Speed limiter and acceleration added:

This new release updates the FLipMouse firmware to version 2.4, which adds the support for following features:

  • Speed limit:

Concerning the fact, that most of the FSR sensor act as non-linear force sensors, it could be a problem that the mouse cursor moves too slow at low forces, but too fast at higher forces. The current solution was a low X/Y speed setting. The disadvantage of this solution is the long time it needs to move the cursor from one edge to the other.

Now it's possible to limit the maximum speed via a new setting in the GUI

  • Acceleration:

Former firmwares did not include any acceleration algorithms. This release provides a configurable acceleration setting for the mouse cursor movement.

Release v2!

This is the second version of the FLipmouse tool.

Changes

There were major changes:

  • GUI update with special mode functionality
  • Firmware update
  • new CPU is used: TeensyLC (32bit ARM) instead of Teensy 2.0++ (8bit AVR)
  • Improved case design, the PCB is now integrated completely to the acrylic glass case
  • PCB update: new CPU
  • PCB update: jack plugs are now integrated onboard
  • PCB update: added external EEPROM
  • PCB update: no SMD parts anymore (easier to solder for people with no experience)

This release is built in a small batch now.

Improvements

There are a few minor improvements, targeted for release v2.5:

  • PCB: the size of the daughterboard is a little too big, decreasing the size
  • PCB: the mainboard will get a built-in buzzer (v2: buzzer is a "flying wire" construction)
  • Case: diameter should be increased by 1mm, length decreased for 4mm
  • Case: the drill for the mount should be moved & smaller
