dealing with complicated acknowledgments, such as herschel

The Herschel acknowledgement (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/herschel/publishing-rules-guidelines) is complicated and can change depending on instruments used, etc. Any ideas on how to handle it?

What about doing separate entries per instrument? When there are way too many observatories/instruments we can think about nesting them by e.g. wavelength.
