If you just want a simple localhost https reverse proxy for your development environment. Not tested for Windows or Mac.

No. By trusting the supplied root CA you are trusting that I have not signed any malicious domains using it. I'll tell you that I have not but I still recommend that you to create your own root CA and sign your own certificates. You can find instructions on how to do so here:
https://risaksson.com/post/10/2022-05-13/HTTPS-enabled-development-environments
- docker
- docker-compose
Change the port number in conf.d/localhost.conf
proxy_pass http://host.docker.internal:3000;
from 3000 to your required port.
host.docker.internal might have some other alias for non-Linux OS.
Run with docker-compose as
docker-compose up
Read nginx stdout using
docker-compose logs
Settings > Privacy & Security > Certificates: View Certificates > Import... > certs/devCA.pem
sudo trust anchor certs/devCA.pem
Remove the certificate using
sudo trust anchor --remove certs/devCA.pem
