What is your Homey version (Settings → System)?

Homey v1.5.3 - App v0.5.0.105

What did you try to achieve?

I open the new V2 app on my Samsung Galaxy S7 (Android 7.0). Then, when I close the app using the 'back-button', the GPS stays active. I have to 'kill' the app to close the GPS connecting.

What was the result?

GPS stays active after closing the app / switching to other app.

What did you expect as result?

Closing GPS, when closing the app using the 'back-button'.

Any other remarks

This also happens with the old V1 app!

A minute or 2 after using the 'back-button' on the V2 app, I get a pop-up telling me that the app is crashed. I will send the report from my phone to you. I'm not sure this related.

Please attach a Homey System log (Settings -> System -> Send Log)

I've send you the feedback-report around 12:13u - 11-10-2017 via Android.

This is because geofencing is still working in the background. Currently, the settings are not yet exposed because it's not working properly, but I agree would be appropriate to turn it off in the meantime.

I have other apps on my phone that use GPS on the background (for example IFTTT), but for that apps the GPS is not constantly active while the app is closed. I guess it activates GPS once in the X minutes or so??

Only when Android uses the GPS for positioning the GPS icon appears.
When using the network (Cell ID and wifi) no icon appears.

I get an alert that the Homey App is using excessive background resources and it flattens my Android phone very quickly. I am assuming this is the same GPS issue. Is background GPS not a system wide reporting provision rather than having each app activate it at different times ? I believe some apps use 4G mast strength / locationID to determine if the phone is actually moving.
