For Example, our classes are infested with decade old equipment when they should be provided with state of the art technology including Internet connection. I feel it is only just, since our tax dollars are part of the reason your district is even able to function. I believe the school district should be more involved with the students instead of letting time take its course. Once again, I should point out that we should be receiving nothing less then the best technology, because we are the future leaders of this nation. I also feel we should understand and be familiar on the standards in today’s society, and again, we are getting less then what should be given. We are being deprived of exultation, we are being mocked with higher expectations yet you are not providing the motivation, nor the facilities we need to accomplish what we should have been able to accomplish years ago. What we are to accomplish tomorrow we are accomplishing weeks from that time, and what was supposed to be accomplished today is now a bliss in the sky, and because of what? I’ll let you answer that question...

In today’s society communication is a necessity. One form of communication widely used throughout the world is the Internet. Kids attending school today are our future leaders and need the skills necessary to survive the real world. It is very important that they get exposed to technology of today and tomorrow. Currently LAUSD offers free Internet access, discretely. All students should be notified that they are allowed to have free access to the Internet through the school. It is also necessary that the hardware and software of the school’s server be upgraded not only the server which handles Internet connections, but also the file server. WAIT There is more...

Now that I have covered your lack of technology and interest in doing anything about it, I think I will move on to curriculum (or lack thereof). When I was in school, we were taught the same old thing over and over again for example long division you taught and I knew, but you had to over-do it buy giving us 1000 problems of the same thing. "Urmm Teacher I already did this problem is just had different numbers". That is why school is boring to most people. Most people who should be overachievers are under achieving because of that lack of interest. You have the stats, I guess you could see that for yourselves, but you won’t see the problem because you really don’t care about people who actually attend your crack house facility’s. You keep telling yourselves students are dropping out because of "Drugs" "family problems" "etc", well that is not the matter for most cases. The reason is it BORES us. Why not just give a student one problem, and see if he could do it and if he cant then realize there is something wrong with the way you taught him. Then, make sure he knows it and it is clear to him before shoving a 1000 more problems in his face.

THE CONSCIENCE OF A HACKER

"Another one got caught today, it’s all over the papers. "Teenager Arrested in Computer Crime Scandal", "Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering"...

Damn kids. They’re all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950’s techno brain, ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker?

Did you ever wonder what made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?

I am a hacker, enter my world...

Mine is a world that begins with school... I’m smarter than most of the

other kids, this crap they teach us bores

me...

Damn underachiever. They’re all alike.

I’m in junior high or high school. I’ve listened to teachers explain for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction.

I understand it. "No, Ms. Smith, I didn’t show my work. I did it in my head..."

Damn kid. Probably copied it. They’re all alike. I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it’s because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn’t like me... Or feels threatened by me...

Or thinks I’m a smart ass...

Or doesn’t like teaching and shouldn’t be here...

Damn kid. All he does is play games. They’re all alike. And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict’s veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetence is sought... a board is found.

"This is it... this is where I belong..."

I know everyone here... even if I’ve never met them, never talked to them, may never hear from them again... I know you all...

Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They’re all alike... You bet your ass we’re all alike... we’ve been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We’ve been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if profiteering gluttons didn’t run it, and you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it’s for our own good, yet we’re the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can’t stop us all... after all, we’re all alike."

Thanks for your time and hopefully for your understanding. (If you see any spelling errors, misuse of words or bad grammar then you have yourselves to thank =] )

Happy New-Year

Optiklenz(LOU)

Though it is to late for me since I am a graduate of your school district I would like to see things change for the students of this generation.

Remember "Knowledge is never a crime"

***snip***

We have access to the Board Of Education Systems

FINALLY THINGS ARE HOW IT SHOULD BE

PEOPLE WHO HAVE A CLUE ARE NOW RUNNING THINGS

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Inform the media so that this may actually get out to those who care, and are able to make a difference

To you this is just another "kid" messing up again.
