<div STYLE="text-align:justify;">L'Institut de police du Québec est l'école de police des policiers municipaux et provinciaux du Québec. Il a été créé en 1968 par la Loi de police afin d'institutionnaliser la formation de tous les policiers québécois. À la suite de l'adoption de la Loi sur l'organisation policière, l'Institut est devenu le 1er septembre 1990 une <a HREF="presentationgenerale/membrecace.html">corporation mandataire</a> du gouvernement provincial.
<p>Situé à Nicolet, au centre du Québec, l'Institut offre des cours de formation et de perfectionnement en matière policière et fait des études et des recherches dans les domaines relatifs au milieu policier.</div><br><br>

La mission de l'Institut s'articule autour de trois champs d'intervention :

<div STYLE="text-align:justify;">Plus de 200 employés, policiers et civils, composent l'effectif de l'Institut.
<p>Le personnel policier provient de la Sûreté du Québec, du Service de police de la Communauté urbaine de Montréal et des différentes organisations policières municipales du Québec. Les policiers sont recrutés par l'Institut au terme d'une procédure de sélection complète et sont liés par un contrat de prêt de service consenti par leur employeur respectif.
<p>Des spécialistes civils de différentes disciplines soutiennent le travail des policiers instructeurs. Conseillers pédagogiques, psychologues, avocats, comédiens, experts en tir, en conduite automobile, en techniques d'intervention physique et en conditionnement physique constituent un noyau d'expertise essentiel dans la prestation des services de l'Institut. Du personnel administratif vient compléter l'équipe en place et assure quotidiennement son soutien aux activités de l'Institut.</div><br>
