On 19 August 1998,&nbsp; Mr&nbsp; Mohammad&nbsp; Amir&nbsp; Wani&nbsp;
resident&nbsp; of village Prang&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Kangan, District Srinagar (Indian Held Kashmir) was picked up along with&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
a group of innocent Kashmiris by&nbsp; the&nbsp; Indian forces. The individual
was&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
rulthlessy tortured who alter died in custody of Indian forces. His dead&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
body was handed over to his relatives on 19 August 1998. Locals of Prang&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Kangan area took out a procession&nbsp; in&nbsp; protest&nbsp; to the said
incident but&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
they were subjected&nbsp; to&nbsp; indiscriminate&nbsp; firing&nbsp; by&nbsp;
the Indian Security&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Forces. As a result another&nbsp; innocent&nbsp; person namely Mr Muhammad
Maqbool&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Butt was killed&nbsp; while&nbsp; Ms&nbsp; Maryam&nbsp; Begum&nbsp; and&nbsp;
Ms&nbsp; Khadeeja&nbsp; Begum were&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
seriously wounded. No action has&nbsp; been&nbsp; initiated&nbsp; by the
administration&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
against the high handedness of Indian Security Forces.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On the night between 28/19 August&nbsp; 1998,&nbsp; Mr Ghulam Rasool Khan,
aged 80&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
years S/O Mr Abdul&nbsp; Kabir&nbsp; Khan&nbsp; resident&nbsp; of&nbsp;
Liver&nbsp; Phalgam,&nbsp; District&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Srinagar (Indian Held Kashmir) was arrested&nbsp; from Kanyar Srinagar
by the&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Special Operations Group of&nbsp; J&amp;K&nbsp; Police.&nbsp; His&nbsp;
family members were also&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
beaten/pressurised by the&nbsp; Special&nbsp; Operations&nbsp; Group&nbsp;
personnel to hand&nbsp;

over Mr&nbsp; Khan's&nbsp; daughter&nbsp; and&nbsp; daughter-in-law&nbsp;
to&nbsp; them&nbsp; or&nbsp; face&nbsp; the&nbsp;
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
consequences. Despite the complainants requests no action had been taken&nbsp;
