Definition of a Frame Relay :

Frame Relay is simply defined as a technology for high-speed data
transfer over a copper T1 line using shared facilities. A Frame Relay makes it possible to
share facilities because on "Bursts". A Burst is a specific amount of data shot
over lines from one point to another, not a constant stream. This gives companies an
ability to share lines to cut cost. Since no one person or company needs to use 100% of
this channel 100% of the time.

This shared facility is called a Frame Relay network or a Frame Relay
cloud. This is the network that connects your company to Global Pacific Internet and then
out to the world.

Who uses Frame Relay ?

Frame Relays are used by all sorts of companies. It is one of the
easiest ways to link a whole office to the Internet. This saves time and money. You only
need 1 line to serve 2, 5, 10, 30, 100 or more computers on a LAN system.

Almost any company that needs quicker response will want a Frame Relay.

* Doctors offices use it to transmit their patients information around the world or
just to the local drug store for a prescription.

* Parts suppliers large and small use it to service more
customers than they could possibly handle over the phone.

* Sales companies use it for 24 hour customer relations, with
high speed email and access so they can find and close their leads more efficiently.

* Stock Investors use it to get up to the minute stock quotes
from anywhere in the world.

Basically, if you want to receive or send almost any type of data at
the fastest rate possible then a Frame Relay is what you need. Of course, don't
forget to consider Wireless too.

How will I know what size of Frame Relay my company
will need ?

This really depends on what you are using it for. The most
important thing to know is that a 56 K Frame Relay is not the same type of line used for
higher speed Frames. 128 KbPS, 384 KbPS, and Full T1 (1.5 MbPS) Frame Relays run off the
same physical lines. This makes it easy to upgrade quickly from 128K to a Full T1 with a
low setup cost.

require is to follow this easy chart. If your business transfers a lot of very large
files, then you may want to go to the next higher bandwidth level.
