<B>Brief History</B> - <I>by Roger Bredow</I><p>
I began QMS in 1993 as a way to advertise my first Georgia company
Quality Maintenance Service and to give me an excuse to sit on the computer until all hours of
the morning. I told friends and family that I was actually getting leads and making money
from the Internet and, of course, this had to be followed by several hours explaining what the
Internet was, and even more hours getting them connected via their 386 and 486 PCs.
<p>
Because there were only a couple of sites dedicated to the Atlanta area, I created the Atlanta
Guidebook and also designed a few Web sites for some friends of mine who were in the real estate
business. They sold houses and used their sites as a way to get ahead in the "listing wars"
by providing a service nobody else could. They suddenly could be found by people who wanted to
relocate to Atlanta from anywhere in the world. Those first Web sites only cost them
$50 per year which included development of their site and hosting on my site.
<p>
My original software tools included only Freeware and Shareware, which I aquired from the
net; programs like WS-FTP, Mosaic, HTMLwriter, and L-View, which I still use today to compress
JPEGs after creating them in Photoshop and Corel Xara.
