<small>The Construction Contractors Board (CCB) is a State agency that protects consumers
by regulating construction contracting businesses.&nbsp; Oregon law requires that all
types of contractors who perform work on residential and nonresidential structures in
Oregon be registered with the CCB. The CCB accepts workmanship (and other) complaints
against registered contractors, usually responding to these complaints (called
&quot;claims&quot;) with informal on-site investigation/mediation and, when necessary,
more formal adjudication very similar to a court.<br>
<br>
The CCB is established by statute (ORS chapter 701). Policy authority is vested in a <a href="members.htm">nine-member board</a> appointed by the governor. There are six
contractors and three public members on the Board. The Board meets once monthly in Salem.
The Board has appointed a full-time administrator, Ken Keudell, who is responsible for the
CCB's day-to-day operations. There are over 60 other employees presently on the staff of
the CCB.<br>

The activities of the CCB are funded from registration fees paid by contractors. No
general fund (tax) dollars are used.<br>
<br>
The staff is divided into several sections. These include Registration, Claims,
Enforcement, Administrative Services, Information Systems, Education, and Hearings.<br>
