<p align="left">The World Congresses on Intelligent Manufacturing Processes &amp; Systems,
the First in Puerto Rico (1995) and the Second in Budapest (1997), organized by Prof. V.
R. Milacic, were a continuation of activities which began in 1985 with the first <em>International
Seminar on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems</em> organized in Dubrovnik.</p>
<p>The main objective of the Congress is to provide a world forum to exchange knowledge,
experience, results and information related to various aspects of factory design for the
future as a challenging frontier for manufacturing industry.</p>
<p>The scope of the Congress covers philosophical, scientific, technological and practical
concepts concerning research, development and realization of Intelligent Manufacturing
Process and Systems, offering a unique opportunity for experts to meet and exchange ideas
in this highly relevant and exciting field.</p>

<p></font><font SIZE="3">The Congress will be held at the Cambridge Center Marriott Hotel,
adjacent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts,
USA. Cambridge is immediately across the Charles River from Boston, Massachusetts. Both
Cambridge and Boston are exciting, cultured cities with many interesting historical
sights, museums and institutes of higher learning.</font></p>

<p></font><font SIZE="3">The official language of the Congress is English, with no
simultaneous translation.</font></p>

<p><a name="Abstracts and Papers"><big><b>Abstracts and Papers</b></big></a></p>
<p>Abstracts may be submitted by fax or post. They should include the title, author&#146;s
full name, affiliation, address, email address, and telephone and fax numbers. Abstracts
should not exceed 300 words.</p>
<p>Submission of a paper implies that it has not been submitted or published elsewhere.
Authors of accepted papers will be expected to sign a copyright release to allow
publication of the proceedings.<br>

<p>At least one author of each paper is required to present the paper at the Congress. Fax

<p>The preferred form of submission for the papers is via <strong>e-mail</strong>. Please
take a look at the guidelines for the format <a href="/guidelines.htm">here</a>. </p>
<p>When submitting your Paper electronically, please name the file as follows: <em><strong>name_last.doc</strong></em>
or <em><strong>name_last.pdf</strong></em>, where <em><strong>name</strong></em> is
replaced with the first name of the corresponding author and <em><strong>last</strong></em>
is replaced with his/her last name. The paper from Carlos Tapia should be named <em><strong>carlos_tapia.doc</strong></em>
or <em><strong>carlos_tapia.pdf</strong></em>.</p>

<p>The Workshop will focus on the design of &quot;lean&quot; production systems from an
integrated engineering and management perspective. The session will highlight machine
design for systems and the alignment of performance measures with enterprise objectives. </font>The
fee for the one-day Production System Design Workshop is $175.00.<b></p>
