<br>
<strong>ASSOCIATION:</strong> The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is dedicated to<br>
the development of young men and women through competitive junior golf. The<br>
association is the largest organization of its kind with a membership of<br>
more than 4,800 juniors from 50 states and 25 foreign countries. More than<br>
125 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA TOURS and have<br>
more than 200 Tour victories to their credit. AJGA alumni include Phil<br>
Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, David Duval, Justin Leonard, Kelli<br>
Kuehne, Michelle McGann, and Dottie Pepper. In 2000, the AJGA will conduct<br>
55 tournaments in 30 states and Canada.<br>
<br>
<strong>DESCRIPTION:</strong> The AJGA is looking for qualified applicants to serve as<br>
tournament information assistants. The interns will travel extensively<br>
throughout the United States during the three-month internship and will<br>
help conduct aproximately 12 junior golf tournaments. Tournament<br>
information assistants are responsible for performing all on-site<br>
communications and media relations duties. Interns will prepare each<br>
tournament's printed materials (i.e., tournament information, pairings,<br>
post-tournament story and agate). Interns are also responsible for<br>
tournament photography and distributing tournament results to local and<br>
national media (E-mail/modem/fax) as well as updating tournament results on<br>
the AJGA's Web site. A total of eight communications interns will be hired.<br>
Interns will be assigned to four teams of six interns.<br>
<br>
<strong>REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br>
<ul>
<li>Basic golf knowledge</li>
<li>Experience in sports information or media relations</li>
<li>Excellent news writing and editing skills, with the ability to work<br>
under pressure and meet deadlines</li>
<li>Working knowledge of IBM computers and Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access</li>
<li>Ability to work and communicate for long hours in a team<br>
atmosphere, willingness to take active leadership role</li>
<li>Photography and Web site maintenance experience a plus<br>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>BENEFITS:</strong><br>

<li>Staff uniforms provided for all interns (Polo Golf for the men and<br>
Polo Sport for the women); in addition, each<br>

<li>Opportunity to build portfolio of writing samples (30-50 stories<br>
and news releases) and photography</li>
<li>Opportunity to work closely with local and national media outlets</li>
<li>Visit and on a limited basis play some of the tournament golf<br>
courses such as: English Turn Golf &amp; Country Club, Mission Hills<br>
Country Club, Dallas Athletic Club, DuPont Country Club and Prairie Dunes<br>

vehicle to gain college golf scholarships. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Davis Love
III, David Duval, Justin Leonard, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Kelly Robbins, Michelle
McGann, and Kelli Kuehne. The AJGA is the largest organization of its kind with a

(including computers, printers, video and 35mm cameras). A total of 16 interns will be
hired. Interns will be assigned to four teams of six.</p>
