<p><b><font face="Arial,Helvetica">Moab:</font></b>
<br><font face="Arial,Helvetica">Everyone has probably heard of <a href="moab.html">Moab,
Utah.</a> It's an off-roaders paradise with loads of trails of every difficulty
level. Wayne Bennett (the Flatlander) has some excellent information about
Moab's trails on his website&nbsp;</font> <font face="Arial,Helvetica"><a href="http://www.4x4now.com/mu4wd.htm">http://www.4x4now.com/mu4wd.htm</a>&nbsp;
We need to nail down a date in May which would be good for the largest
number of people, please write the date of choice in the comments section
of the application.</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica">Reasonably priced accomodations can be
found at <a href="http://www.moab-utah.com/silver/sage.html">The Silver
Sage Inn</a> (435) 259-4420. I was quoted a price of $50.46 for a single
bed and $56.26 for 2 beds. I suggest you make your reservations soon as
Moab is a popular tourist destination.</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica">Here is a site with lots of <a href="http://moab-utah.com/index.html">local
information.</a></font>
<p><b><font face="Arial,Helvetica">Required Equipment</font></b>
<br><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>1.)</b> The rocks can shred tires!&nbsp;
If your tires are looking a little thin and you have been&nbsp; pondering
new ones, come with the new ones.&nbsp; And lots of those big Safety Seal
patches and a good spare.</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>2.)</b> Check your brakes thoroughly!&nbsp;
If you lose a master cylinder, it could be very serious.&nbsp; Also be
sure that&nbsp; your parking brake line is well adjusted to set your brake
firmly.&nbsp;</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>3.)</b>&nbsp; Cooling system.&nbsp;
Some of these climbs will be steep and relentless.&nbsp; Check your system
and change your anti-freeze.&nbsp; As soon as you notice overheating, open
all the windows and turn on your heater full blast to dissipate the heat
from the engine, stop and let your engine cool itself.&nbsp;</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>4.)</b>&nbsp; Emergency equipment.&nbsp;
If you are overnight on the trail for any reason you need a sleeping bag
for each&nbsp; person in the rig, extra food, and extra water. Pack your
own lunches.&nbsp; Water is especially important in the desert.1 gallon
per person per day is reccomended.</font>
<br>&nbsp;
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>5.)</b> Other Necessities. Bring plenty
of warm cloths. Be prepared to dress in layers. If you intend to tent camp
the nights in May can get very cold in this terrain.&nbsp;</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>6.)</b> <b>Bring a CB radio</b> for
vehicle to vehicle communications. Even a small "walkie talkie" type CB
will work fine for this task.</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>7.)</b> <b>Tow points front and rear
</b>are
very important. It's easy ot get stuck on a loose hill climb. Having a
strong tow hook is much better than having to strap to an axle housing.</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica"><b>8.)</b> If you have any spare parts
and fluids you may want to bring them. Same goes for tools.</font>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica">Don't skimp, but don't fret either...the
reason we go on runs with each other is to make sure everyone has fun and
is protected by the "herd."&nbsp;</font>
