</B></U>
<U><P ALIGN="JUSTIFY">EXPLORATORY STUDIES PROGRAM (ESP)</U>&nbsp;&nbsp;ESP is a school-within-a-school, an alternative to the traditional high school education.</P>
<P ALIGN="JUSTIFY">Students are scheduled for all of the following in ESP: English, Social Studies, Science, Math, keyboarding, Computer Applications, Environmental Studies, participation in Government, Economics, Art, Physical Education, and Independent Study.</P>
<P ALIGN="JUSTIFY">The program incorporates student-centered, active education to develop critical thinking skills, responsibility for learning, expression, and academics through the use of the "EXHIBITION." The Exhibition is a thematic, conceptual, or practical unit of scholarship with group activity, research, reading, writing, artistic, and presentation components.</P>
<P ALIGN="JUSTIFY"> Other aspects of ESP:<br>
<li>A mentor program, known as an advisory, to monitor each students' personal and academic progress. Each teacher is assigned five or six students and meets with them at a regularly scheduled time.</li>
<li>Double period block of time for each course except Physical Education, which has a single period.</li>
<li>Maximum class size is 15.</li>
<U><P ALIGN="JUSTIFY">AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM (PM)</U>
P.M. School is a special "after-school" program that allows students to obtain one credit in each of the following subject areas; Social Studies, English, Math and Science. Each class meets once a week for three hours. Parental and guidance approval is mandatory.</P>
<U><P ALIGN="JUSTIFY">GENERAL EDUCATION DIPLOMA (GED)</U>Our G.E.D. program is an officially approved program of the State Education Department. Students must be a minimum of seventeen years of age. Small groups of students are prepared for New York State examinations in the following areas; reading, writing, history, science and math. The examinations are administered and evaluated at a BOCES site. Diplomas are issued by New York State upon successful completion of all examinations.</P>
