District, located on the eastern edge of the Kansas City
metro area in Jackson County, covers a total of 56
</font>square miles and includes students from the
communities of Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Independence,
Lake Tapawingo and Lee's Summit.&nbsp; Annual enrollment
is approximately 12,405 (a 45% increase since
1980).&nbsp; We are one of the fastest growing areas in
the state, increasing our student body by 300 each year.

>Our mostly middle to upper-middle
class community enjoys a stable economy.&nbsp; Of our
46,000 residents, 30% commute to the Kansas City metro
area to work each day.</font></p>
<p><font color="blue" face=""
>Our close proximity to Kansas City
allows residents easy access to a variety of social,
cultural and educational opportunities.&nbsp; For
example, the Blue River Community College serves over
2,100 students at its local campus.&nbsp; There is also
convenient access to over 54 colleges, universities, and
technical schools in the metro area.</font></p>

a twelfth elementary school, Sunny Pointe.&nbsp; The current
Georgeff-Baker Middle School will become the Freshman Center and a
new middle school, Delta Woods, will
