What I meant was that a bug (miniscule in size has nothing to do with it) has more life than a fetal being.

"No, the power of a being is not in its size. It's in its potential."

Just what I said before about the size. The point is, a fetal has less of a life than a bug.

"Inside the womb, outside the womb, able/unable to speak... we're all humans, and so is a fetus."

A sidenote: In my book, we are also animals as are bugs and such.

Well Joker, let me ask you this: what are the reasons people want abortion? Do you think that if they really could love the child and care for the child as best as possible they would be willing to go through such a thing? Of course not. I think it's up to an individual's disgression whether or not they can provide a good life for a child. Abortion is an alternative. Don't have the child if you know it will suffer.

Women don't get pregnant for the fun of terminating their potential child. Abortion is probably one of the most biggest desicions in their lives and they don't need the guilt of it being called murder. It IS moral simply because it is the woman's desicion how she wants to control her body. Unfortunate common killings of abortionists - that's murder.

My mere point was the fact that the inability to support a child would be disastrous for the child's life.

"No, of course not. Even if, after 3 years, you're a parenting nightmare, and you're not getting better, they can't take away your life. So, when you were only a fetus, and they're trying to predict if you'll become a good child or not, they certainly had no right whatesoever to kill you."

You're absolutely right. But the basis of abortion was never due to the decision whether or not a child would be good or not, but as I stress again, the capability of a parent to provide even a half decent life for a child. I just want to clear this issue. I do not believe that abortion is the right solution for every situation, but it is an alternative for those in dire straits. I'm sure, if I follow your argument, that a starving, abused, or unsheltered child would not be a happy child. The child would be troubled, restless and very unprotected. Come one, let's be realistic - do you honestly believe otherwise for most cases if a child was born in such a situation where a parent cannot support the child?

Very very few (if any) people's lives are worse than death.

"But the basis of abortion was never due to the decision whether or not a child would be good or not, but as I stress again, the capability of a parent to provide even a half decent life for a child."

And you hit it right on the nose, how most people rationalize abortion. But here is the mistake: no child, regardless of how badly he or she has been brought up, will want to die. Even orphaned children from the poorest areas of Somalia, still fight to survive. Even children from the most broken homes in America, end up to become enormous success stories. If you have a child, give it a heart beat and a breath, and at least a fighting chance, despite how disasterous you think it will be supported.
