 - <em>almost</em> the northernmost point of New Zealand (<em>the nearby Surville Cliffs actually are</em>).<br><br>
In Maori belief Cape Reinga, along with nearby Spirits Bay, is the departure place for the spirits of the recently deceased.<br>
On their way they are believed to climb down the twisted pohutukawa trees on the cliffs.<br><br>
The Cape is where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet, <br>a dramatic sight on the right day !<br><br>

440 km north of Auckland</em>
