Recently, there have been many attacks on Freedom of Speech based on the theory that, what people watch on TV, or in video games, or listen to will infect their brains and cause them to commit acts of random violence in real life. This, of course, is the old tyrants credo, "People cannot protect themselves from bad thoughts, so we must protect them."<P>
Of course, another authoritarian trick is to claim that this is done to protect "the children." But the most dangerous trick of all is when the scientific establishment is corrupted by people who want greater power over what we read, see and hear.<P>
Well, according to <a href=redirect.php3?op=redir&sid=20&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freedomforum.org%2Fnews%2F2000%2F07%2F2000-07-31-08.htm>this article</A> in <i>The Freedom Forum,</i>, this is exactly what has happened. It seems like I hear this bleat everywhere these days. What is the best way to resist it?
