<P>The city of Franklin, NH yesterday <A href=http://www.fosters.com/news2000/august_00/03/cit0804f.htm>seized an apartment building</A> through eminent domain to make way for a parking lot recommended by a downtown revitalization study. Two local pastors purchased the building and had been renovating it to provide low-income housing. The pastors were ordered by police to leave the property, tenants were served with eviction notices, and the ownership was then transferred to the city of Franklin.</P>
<P>I find this Soviet-style approach to municipal management to be contemptible, and am writing a <A href=mailto:letters@fosters.com>letter to the editor</A> in support of the pastors.</P>
