Successful candidates will be expected to merit secondary appointments in the School of Engineering. The MSRC was established in 1990 for the purpose of developing integrated programs in Orthopaedic education and research where engineers, scientists, and physicians along with staff guide and teach quality students, research fellows and residents. </font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">1) Candidates for the Cartilage Biomechanics position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biomedical, mechanical, or other related engineering discipline is preferred. Engineering research background in the following areas of specialization: mechanism of cartilage fluid/solid interface, biomechanical testing of cartilage and meniscus using confined an unconfined compression, and computational techniques for appropriate analyses. Cellular and functional tissue engineering will be helpful. </font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">2) Candidates for the Upper Extremity/Hand Biomechanics position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biomedical, mechanical or other related engineering discipline is preferred. Engineering research background in one or more of the following areas of specialization: computer visualization and computational modeling, analyses of joint kinematics, characterization of ligaments and tendons, and biomechanical testing.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Successful applicants at the Assistant Professor level will be expected to pursue independent research as well as collaborate with current clinical faculty. Guidance and help will be provided to successfully seek extramural funding.
