VIENNA, November — E-Com-Con Computer Corporation has announced plans to develop a faster, more powerful successor to its extremely popular Octium IV computer processor.
By utilizing its enhanced HydrogenTM processor optimization technology and improved micro-architecture, the new chip, dubbed the "Octium V," will more than quadruple the raw performance of its predecessor.
"The V will be the next formidable weapon in our
| arsenal of speed," said E-Com-Con CEO Daniel Pendrell. | |
Though a working Octium V prototype is expected in mid-2001, the company plans to delay its official release until spring 2003. "Right now we need to see how well people handle the IV's gigafloppage," said Pendrell. "So stay tuned."
