The Auburn-Florida game on November 30, 1939, marked what is now Jordan-Hare Stadium's opening and dedication. Jordan-Hare Stadium has been the home of the Auburn Tigers for 58 years and today stands as the seventh-largest stadium in the nation.

Five major additions have been made to the stadium over the years. The most recent addition, the east side upper deck and luxury suites were constructed in 1987. This improvement to the stadium was made possible thanks to the success of Pat Dye-coached teams in the 1980's.

The luxury suites of the stadium hold approximately 1,000 people on a given football Saturday in Auburn. The 68 suites cater to suite holders and guests for roughly $27,000 to $80,000 for the entire football season.

Jana Burnett, Suite Program Director, said, "Suites are leased to individuals or companies for the football season's home games. The leases are in charge of a suite and the division between individual and company leases is about half and half."

Suites offer occupants all the conveniences of being in your own home combined with actually being in the crowd at an Auburn football game. "An advantage this year is suites have windows that open out.

"Now you have crowd noise and you get the full effect," said Ms. Burnett. This new feature to the customized seats is just one of many attractions that can be found in the exclusive, luxury suites.

"If you have never been in a suite at Jordan-Hare Stadium before, a typical home game can be described as this," Burnett explains, "being greeted by hosts and hostesses when you walk in the doors, a catered menu waiting for you at your seat, a private restroom instead of having to share with thousands of other fans, and your own kitchenette, living room area with viewers golf seats to watch the game in comfort, parking area, instant replay, etc." Suite holders are also allowed to occupy their suite two hours before and after the game.

This is the ten year anniversary of the luxury suites, with 20 to 30 suite holders retaining their suites the entire decade. "There is a three to five year waiting list for luxury suites. The list is updated and revised on a daily basis with people calling year round to add their names," Ms. Burnett added.

Auburn University is fortunate to have suites at all. Some SEC schools don't have any in their football stadiums. Alabama is currently building luxury suites, while LSU has none. "Of the suites I have seen in the SEC, Auburn has double if not triple the amount of suites of other schools," said Burnett.

Burnett added by saying, "A lot of other schools cannot afford to build suites, I know the University of South Carolina and the University of Georgia each have 18 suites in their respective stadiums."

Auburn University is truly blessed to have advanced sports facilities for its alumni, athletes, fans, and students to enjoy. The luxury suites give individuals and companies an opportunity to experience Auburn home football games in a comfortable atmosphere without sacrificing any stadium excitement.
Thanks to Auburn's strong alumni support, athletic achievement, fan loyalty and student atmosphere, luxury suites can be enjoyed for many years to come.
