<P>Shannon Weaver, who enters his third year at Auburn, was promoted to assistant head coach May 26, 1999, after spending his previous two seasons at Auburn as assistant coach. </font>
<P>"Shannon is involved with the day-to-day activities of the men's basketball program," head coach Cliff Ellis said. "I have been impressed with him in the time that he has been here. I feel like he is the person for me to have in the position of assistant head coach."
<P>Weaver played a major role in the 1998-99 Auburn Tigers winning the SEC Championship with a 29-4 record, the winningest Div. I team in state of Alabama history.
<P>The Scottsville, Ky., native joined the Auburn staff on April 28, 1997, after spending four years at West Georgia.
<P>Weaver, who was an assistant under former Ole Miss coach Ed Murphy at West Georgia, was also an assistant athletic director for operations for three of those years. Weaver helped lead the Div. II Braves to a 72-38 record from 1994-97, including two NCAA Tournament appearances in 1994 and 1997 and three Gulf South Conference titles.
<P>Weaver signed Div. II All-American Shawn Myers, who was a first-team Junior College All-American, the Florida Junior College Player of the Year and the only Street & Smith's top 100 prospect to sign with Div. II in 1995.
<P>The 34-year-old Weaver is primarily responsible for Auburn's on-the-floor coaching and working with the Tigers' offseason program.
<P>As an assistant athletic director, Weaver served as West Georgia's NCAA Compliance Officer for eligibility. He was also responsible for game operations for all sports, directed the supervision of all athletic department support staff and was director of facilities.
<P>Weaver, who graduated from Middle Tennessee State in 1993, was a student assistant coach for MTSU from 1991-93.
<P>Weaver is married to the former Mindy Greganti of Memphis, Tenn., and they have one daughter, Layne (1).
