Kim begins her second season with the Auburn swim program. As Assistant Head Women’s Coach she is able to establish a higher level of commitment to the women’s program. She feels the women benefit from the comradere and training with the men, but also get the individual attention which is vital in the development of elite athletes. McDonald is very instrumental in the recruiting process of the program as well as helping develop national calibur athletes.
<P>Prior to Auburn, Kim worked at Northwestern University for two years. She was an asset in all areas, but her primary responsibilities were with the sprint group, recruiting and implementing the strength and dryland programs. McDonald has also coached at Davidson College, NC, Ithaca College, NY and with the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, NC. During the summer of 1997 she was a staff member of the U.S. Open Water National Team Training Camp.
<P>McDonald swam four years collegiately at the University of Albany. Upon graduation she pursued her masters of science in the field of Sport Psychology at Springfield College. Kim believes the techniques and theories she learned are best utilized on a day to day basis with athletes at the pool.
<P>The 29-year old native of Ithaca, NY is a triathlete and has goals of competing in an Iron Man competition.
