Image Data LLC, based in Nashua NH, has admitted that the Secret Service
assisted it in creating a national database of driver licenses photos.
The company has bought millions of driver's license photos from Florida,
South Carolina and Colorado. While all three states have now blocked the
sales outright or are trying to get the photos back. The purpose of the
database was to help prevent fraud with credit cards and check cashing.
The Secret Service however gave the company a 1.46 million dollar grant
to create an anti-terrorism and immigration database.

be implemented by the China National Information Security Testing
Evaluation and Certification Center. The center has already processed 32

The National Police Agency of Japan has said that high-tech crime has
risen 58% in the country over the last year. They said there where 415
cases categorized as high-tech crimes in 1998, compared to 262 in 1997.
Computer-related fraud included forging bank account data and
reprogramming electromagnetic data.
