British Military satellites where being held for ransom by crackers,
several other news organizations are now also questioning the validity of
this claim.

Federal Agencies are having a difficult time meeting the requirements of
the Federal Infrastructure Protection plan due to the draining effect
caused by Y2K on the various agencies budgets. The General Services
Administration's Office of Information Security (OIS) and the Critical
Infrastructure Assurance Office are working to get more money allocated to
security in the next budget.

An ISP in Singapore, SingNet, has had several of its users passwords
posted on a web site in the United States called SickNet. Acidgerm, the
perpetrator, claims to have many more passwords that will posted soon.
SingNet and CyberWay have blocked access to the site for their users and
have reported the incident to Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team
