This article came out on Monday but it took two days for it show up
anywhere. Why did it take so long? This is a rare positive hacker story.
No hackers where arrested, accused of anything, no outrages claims where
made, nothing was sensationalized. This article is about true hacking
and not what the mainstream media has morphed it into. AND this is from
Reuters, amazing, didn't they carry a story two weeks ago making all
sorts of outrageous hacker claims? Something to do with satellites? I
could only find this article in two places, the Reuters article on
satellites was all over the web within hours.

'Hacker' sentenced in New Zealand

A twenty-two year old New Zealand man has been sentenced to five years in
jail for 'hacking'. This article is extremely vague on the details of the
charges against the man and is more of a promotional piece for the judge.
Evidently Craig Ian Henderson racked up over $60,000 in charges while
using purloined credit card information, at Telecom Clear and Vodafone.
No details are given as to how he managed to defraud the companies, what
charges he was convicted of or what exactly happened here.

The City of Dallas is being held accountable for $19,000 in long distance
phone bills it apparently did not make. Evidently someone was able to
route calls to Pakistan, Morroco, Nepal, Peru and other countries from a
payphone through the cities telephone system. AT&T claims that it warned
the city about the problem months before when it rescinded a similar bill
for $4,000 and now are demanding payment for the new $19,000 bill. AT&T
claims that the security of the cities phone system was the cities
responsibility and that they should not be held liable for the cities
problems. The city feels that since AT&T was gracious enough to ignore
the previous $4,000 bill they should also ignore this new $19,000 bill.
Dallas officials have finnally placed a block on city phone lines to
prevent a recurrence.
