Students at Ruston High School in Louisiana are required to wear ID
cards around their necks as part of the added security measures at the
school. The ID cards contain the pictures of the student, a Pepsi logo,
and the students social security number in bar code form. The bar codes
are in plain sight and for all to see in clear violation of Federal
Law. The school claimed that the bar codes had been encrypted. Students
have since broken that trivial encryption.

Possession, distribution, and writing of viruses will soon be illegal
in Finland. The bill carries a sentence of up to two years in prison
for violators. The ambiguous wording of the bill, "Causing danger to
data processing systems", could be interpreted as a lot of things
especially since the only limitation needing to be proven is intent and
not actual damages.

the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). This Act

Everyone's been talking and dealing with the Y2K problem. On the
sidelines awaits a new, probably easier to handle, computer date
problem. The Year 2038 Bug can cause problems for computer applications
written in C Language when the date hits January 18-19, 2038. This is
in relation to "time.h", C's standard time library routine, which uses
a 4-byte format to store time values and other functions to manipulate
them.
