Support NAT in the Firewall

The firewall system needs to support NAT and port forwarding.

I think this would be a high priority point if you want the firewall to directly connect to the Internet (unless you use IPv6.) If you chain this point with "Support for PPPoE, IPoE" then you have something EVERY guy in the Planet and every company can try in a real life common scenario. No need for exotic protocols or fancy routing, just IP, TCP and ICMP are enough to connect the Internet. Any other scenarios will require putting another firewall vendor before LionsOS firewall (to deal with NAT and DSL) which will kill the early adopters as the big benefit of migrate a standard DSL router/firewall to LionsOS Firewall is to eliminate the weak point ( standard DSL router/firewall).

Yes, we currently have a number of undergraduate students working with TS who are interested in working on a NAT implementation over the next few months. Although in terms of "priorities", the core members of our group will not be working directly on additional firewall functionality ourselves (outside of providing guidance), at least not for the foreseeable future.

Oh, nice. They are going to love it. If they have doubts they can try to reach Brantley Coile, as he was first person on Earth to implement NAT in his company Network Translation Inc (later Cisco PIX firewall) back in 90s. Even he is usually very busy coding and/or managing his company, I bet he would love to answer questions to young people about NAT. He is reachable in LinkedIn. He is a GOAT in low level OS C programming and for sure he would also love to hear about LionsOS Firewall.
