It appears to be just the Nyquist effects that cause this errant behavior - does not appear to happen with the built-in above-the-line effects.

Tested on W10 with audacity-win-3.1.0-alpha-20211008+ec258e0-64bit

It does happen for me with the built-in effect Noise Reduction. The built-ins that I was able to duplicate this problem for are:

  • Noise Reduction
  • Change Pitch
  • Change Tempo
  • Sliding Stretch

Both Change Pitch and Change Tempo also have additional problems, so I'll open up a new report for each of them.
