ZotFile: Zotero plugin to manage your attachments
by Joscha Legewie

ZotFile is a Zotero plugin that allows you to automatically rename, move, and attach pdf (or other) files to Zotero items by pressing a single button. The plugin supports batch renaming, user specified directories, renaming rules using metadata from Zotero items, and the organization of attachment files into subfolders. The plugin also syncs PDFs from your Zotero library to your (mobile) PDF reader (e.g. an iPad, Android tablet, etc.), and extracts highlighted text from pdfs to zotero notes (mac only).

Installation
The currently released version (1.6.x) is available at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zotfile/
The version on github is the development version for 2.0. Beta releases for this version are posted at http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/18737/3/zotfile-reader-zotero-plugin-to-work-with-tablet-ipad-android-tablets-etc/ (see end of thread for most recent version).

To install the development version on github:
- download .zip file from github
- extract .zip file
- recreate .zip file containing all the files
(Note: I am not sure why it is necessary to recreate the zip file)
- rename file to .xpi
- For zotero firefox: drag & drop on firefox (for zotero standalone, see below)
- For zotero standalone: In Zotero Standalone go to 'Tools->Add-ons->Tools for all Add-ons (the small,drop-down wheel menu next to the 'Search all Add-ons' box)->Install Add-on From File' and pick the .xpi file.
