It was quite useful to build Fira Code from original Glyphs source file. UFOs are great but I believe there's something lost in translation when building from them instead of original. And thanks for the great font!

We plan to share the Glyphs sources mid 2017. Hope for your understanding and many thanks for loving and using Fira.

Reconstructing the font files from the provided UFO sources is kind of impossible without knowing the actual interpolation settings. The Glyphs sources were available in Mozilla's Repo before, but it dosen't seem to get updated now that Firefox OS was abandoned. So sharing the current Glyph sources here would be much appreciated.

@carrois any news?

In addition to the lack of Glyphs sources, it appears that the UFO sources were removed in 7eded07 and have not been replaced. Unless I'm missing something, this repository doesn't seem to contain any source files for changes since 6034516 back in 2016.

I would greatly appreciate having the source files for this open-source typeface.

Hello.

Sadly, all support for the Fira project was withdrawn from Mozilla and Here some years ago.
We then decided to host the project on our own to be able to keep it alive.

But since we have no budget, it apears that we are not able to maintain such a big project as Fira as we would like to do.

Diving into all open issues and responsibly solve them would mean a lot effort on our side.
Bringing up source files here (and reworking them, fitting the newest standards) might be ok for huge players because they make money elsewhere but it is not ok for a small company as we are.
Nevertheless, I think you can find older sources here: https://github.com/mozilla/Fira

Completely understand your point, that it should not be called an „Open Source typeface“ then. We changed that to being an „Open Font“ – which is free to use for everybody.
It was already called like this on our website, but not in this repo.
