According to the stack trace, it is having hard time registering fonts. Do you
have lots of them, by any chance? Or maybe a sort of directory loop? Try
removing e.g.

<dir name="/usr/share/fonts/truetype" absolute="true"/>

from plugins/org.ganttproject.impex.htmlpdf/plugin.xml

Yes, it works after I commented out the line. After that, I did some research
and found that the reason was the lots of fonts in the metapackage
ubuntustudio-fonts-meta.
As a test case, I have restored plugin.xml and deleted two largest font
subfolders: aenigma and larabie. It was enough to successfully start
ganttproject. But the memory consumption was too high 285 Mb (without truetype
fonts - 53 Mb).

Due to the fact that ubuntustudio-fonts-meta is a standard package, and also
because of the unaffordable relationship between the number of fonts and memory
consumption, I think that the proposed solution can not be a long-term solution
and must be fixed on the another way.

Similar problem was fixed in GP 2.6.5 (see issue #875) so I believe this one is
also fixed.
