redirect and cookies do not work in Internet Explorer #1574

Here's the same code without CI working in all browsers (including IE) as expected:

I think the problem you're having is that you are doing the following:
The problem lies between 2 and 3 - in my experience, IE sometimes needs an extra page that does a location redirect to the final destination in order for the correct headers to be sent back and forth between the browser and the server to set the cookie.
So try and change the above to:

I have this same issue - and in fact if you're on a page and hit the browser refresh button it kills the session and redirects to the login page.
I am using CI sessions with database storage. I have removed the underscores from the cookie name as well. It was since changing to db storage that this symptom arose.
