DESP Usecase – Discovery of Scholarships and Grants

Overview
We have considered below scenarios for implementation of “Discovery of Scholarships and Grants Usecase”.

Search Scholarships and Grants for "Class 12 pass out students"
Search Scholarships and Grants for students having "Family Income is less than INR 500000”
Search Scholarships and Grants for "Under Graduate students”
Search Scholarships and Grants by “Name”

Features

BAP
• User searches scholarships with name, eligibility criteria like family income, gender, qualification, etc.
• Display search result to user
BPP
• Post Scholarships
• As per search intent received from BAP, prepare scholarships & grants catalog and send it to BAP

Implementation
Below diagram depicts implementation of Scholarship and Grants Discovery Usecase.

User will search Scholarships and Grants using BAP application. Search options will be consists of below:
a. Search by name
b. Search by eligibility criteria like family income, qualification, etc.
BAP will create search request as per DSEP spec and send it to BG.
BG will search BPPs (registered in “scholarships & grants” domain) from network registry. Once BPP list is received, BG will broadcast search request (received from BAP) to all BPPs.
As per request received from BG, BPP will prepare catalog of matching “Scholarships and Grants” and send it to BG.
Once BG receive search response, it will send it to BAP.

In this example, we have made below changes in Person schema:

Person Schema -> Tags -> Academic Qualifications -> changed code “degree” to “ug” or “pg” to identify degree level
Person Schema -> Tags -> Academic Qualifications -> added percentage/grade, passing year
Because, scholarship provider may add eligibility criteria for minimum percentage/grade and passing year.
Person Schema -> Tags -> added caste category

We have below queries regarding mapping of below fields to specs:

Application start date - Currently, we have mapped it with "fulfillment -> start"
Application end date - Currently, we have mapped it with "fulfillment -> end"
Scholarship amount - Currently, we have mapped it with "item -> price"
Identification of scholarship or grant? - Currently, we have mapped it with "fulfillment -> type"
