There are general roles that apply for the whole web application and project related roles that are specific to a certain project of a collaboration.

Admins have access to the whole administration tasks, including adding new users, updating datasets, deleting datasets, users and projects. Data-admins can download all data and administer naming conventions in the data groups. Project board members are asked in the first round of data requests through paper proposals before the data owners are asked for acceptance.

Principle Investigators and 2nd Principle Investigators can see the comments of all datasets of their project. When data owners set datasets "free for project", all members of this project can download the data.
