Describe the bug

The zip file generated by the export is 0 bytes large. i.e. it is completely empty.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. From the Tools menu click 'Export to Jekyll'
  2. The resulting zip file that it prompts you to download is 0 bytes large.

Expected behavior

The resulting zip file should contain all of the WordPress posts.

Screenshots

Here's a screenshot of the download link after clicking the link to generate the zip file.

Additional context

I'm using WordPress 5.1.1, and WordPress to Jekyll Exporter version 2.3.0. I've tried both installing the extension automatically from the Plugins menu, as well as manually downloading the extension files and uploading them to my WordPress site, and both produce the same result.

Other users also reported this same problem on the extension's support forums here.

@deadlydog does the problem continue if you disable other plugins and use the default theme? Also, are there any error messages in the error log?

I'll try disabling the other plugins tonight and give it another go. Where would I find the error log to check it?

I uninstalled a few plugins and deactivated the rest, but the problem continues. I noticed that I only had 35mb free disk space, so I cleaned that up a bit and got it to 150mb free, but still have the same issue, and watching the disk while it attempts to create the export zip file, it never goes below 100mb free, so I don't think that's the issue. Where would I find the error log file @benbalter ? Thanks.

Is there any other information I can provide you, or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.

I deleted v2.3.0 of the plugin and installed v2.2.3 and the export is working properly now. Seems to be a bug with v2.3.0 of the plugin.

@deadlydog Glad to hear. It would to be helpful to understand why 2.3.x didn't work. Where to find your error log is host dependent. Searching for "HOST NAME php error log" should hopefully point you to the relevant help article. It may also be available in Cpanel if you have one, or wherever php.ini is set to log errors, if you're running locally/on a VM.

Hmmmm, I had recently moved my WordPress blog hosting from GoDaddy to Azure. It looks like in Azure the log file is found at /LogFiles/php_errors.log. Taking a look at that file, I see the following:

The No space left on device errors on the 16th make sense, as I believe that was before I freed up extra space by deleting files. So I think the errors on the 17th and 19th are the ones that would be of interest to you.
