Oatmeal Raisin Cookies


  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinammon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves and nutmeg each.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups quick-cooking or old-fashionged oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup raisins


  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Beat all ingredients save for oats, flour, and raisins.
  2. Stir in oats, flour and raisins. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls about an inch apart on greased cookie sheet and bake for 8 - 11 minutes until golden brown or edges lightly crisped.


Use other types of dried fruit, chocolate chips, or nuts in place of raisins. For a chewier cookie, add a tablespoon of honey.
