What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Restart Unix server running red5
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The logs in /usr/share/red5/logs would remain; instead, they are deleted.

Need them to be rotated or appended instead of deleted so we can better
diagnose any problems.

I noticed that the apps use logback library. I think the solution seems to be to use

RollingFileAppender.

    http://logback.qos.ch/manual/appenders.html

and do a daily rollover with compression of older files. This way, bigbluebutton,

deskshare, etc. can properly handle their own rotation without using an external
package (like logrotate) that would require shutting down the server to have it
release old file handles.
