Using Google Chrome (version 109.0.5414.120) on Win 10 I cannot see the country flags in the "Settings/Appearance" setting of the web app.
Instead the language/country shortcodes are displayed:

This happens on different machines.

Windows has an issue displaying country flag emoji. This is a platform issue which does not even appear to be fixed in Win11. As a result this fix will just hide the emoji when a windows operating system is detected.
