Description

I recently made a trade as a taker and the other party has requested mediation through a dispute. I received a message that I would need to explain the situation and send some information in the messaging window. When I did that (in Support > Mediation > Messages) and clicked 'send', the message remains stuck in "Sending message...", despite me waiting for several hours.

Since I have 48 hours to send this information before automatically losing the dispute, I feel some urgency to get this fixed and imagine that would be the case for anyone else experiencing this as well. Hope someone can help me and/or fix this if it is in fact a software bug. Thanks!

Version

Bisq version 1.2.1 for Mac, although the user that made this forum post seems to be having the same problem while running version 1.1.7. There also appears to be overlap with this Github reported issue.

Steps to reproduce

I personally wouldn't know how to reproduce this, besides making a new trade, opening a dispute there and requesting mediation. Does Bisq have a testnet?

Expected behaviour

Send the message and show it in the messages field.

Actual behaviour

See 'description'.

Screenshots

Not available (screenshot would reveal my personal information and wouldn't contribute much to what I described above)

Device or machine

MacBook Pro (2019), macOS Catalina 10.15.1

@freimair I suppose, but I'm not sure where to find/create a log. Could you point me in the right direction?

I did notice that another Github issue that was submitted is similar to this one and that user submitted a log. Maybe that one is useful too here: #3517

your logs should be somewhere around here: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Bisq/bisq.log

and yes, I agree, that #3517 seems related

There is a bug which can prevent in-trade chat and support chat from working on bugged trades, so please join Bisq's #support channel on Keybase to communicate with arbitrators and developers directly.

@wiz Thanks for het tip! I was just about to do this but the opposing party has just confirmed that the money has arrived and I have withdrawn the bitcoin that I bought to my wallet. For me personally, my problem has therefore been solved and the mediation case is no longer relevant.

Nonetheless, the mediation case is still open and I still cannot send any messages in that window, so the bug itself is still there and off course still relevant for others that are experiencing the same problem.

PS: Maybe it's relevant to add that I can actually send and receive messages with the opposing party in the trade window.
