create http://bitcoin.org/download//

then link to the correct one via JS auto-detect - fall-back to http://www.pidgin.im/download/

The new website now has download in a seperate page. So, I'm closing this issue. But feel free to re-open it if you feel I'm missing something.

BTW the "pidgin" approach was the first one I used with the new website design and most people disagreed, because Bitcoin-Qt is not the client that is the most appropriate for new users (storing the entire growing blockchain).
