This video is more news report than it is wikipedia page, it focuses too much on the things that are relevant now but aren't related to Bitcoin itself and won't necessarily be relevant in a year or four; value, growth, critics. Last month Jon from weusecoins posted on reddit about a new video, perhaps someone could talk with weusecoins to get an update on their progress? Here is the reddit post. I'll send him a message now and see if there's been any progress or if they have a plan. |

NAK on anything that calls Bitcoin fully anonymous. :) (alas) Being balanced is fine, especially if the negatives aren't pure speculation or misinformation. Being overly centered on current events is less good. |
|
I'm all for replacing the WUC video for something better (without mining & without promoting anonymity). But I don't think the Ebay video can be considered better:
I am not aware of the new Weusecoins video but I am certainly very interested too. |

I disagree that being focussed on current events is a strike against this video - we can always replace it whenever we feel it has become dated. @saivann makes some good points though. |
|
@dmnd The good news is that the weusecoins video is indeed in the process of being updated, as @citricsquid pointed out. So far the changes that have been suggested seem to be very good ones. I'm looking forward seing this new version (even though I guess it might still take a few weeks, I don't know what is the delay we can expect). |
|
Hm, is the updated WUC script up anywhere? (e.g. are we going to run into the same problems with the update?… the original version was very good) |
|
@gmaxwell So far that's all I've seen, and it's not final : http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1n9v73/time_to_patchup_the_weusecoins_video/ccgpyd7 Basically, so far it seems like it will be almost the same, less technical or controversial parts. |

That's the response from the weusecoins guy in regards to progress on the new video. |

OK, sounds like a better replacement is in the works, so I'll close this request. Thanks all! |

I am re-opening this issue to keep it visible; I've still got no update about the new WUC video. |

There is a proposal on reddit to change the video on the
homepage of bitcoin.org. This implements that proposal.
The rationale for this change is that the existing video
goes into detail about mining, possibly misleading new users
into thinking they can mine.
Possible reasons this new video is not appropriate:
