Thank you for taking time out to think about this and make the suggestion. I respectfully disagree - while this term might not be one that is often used (or arguably even understood) by a significant portion of the masses, I think it is very relevant to early-adopters, potential developers, analysts, investors and/or market-makers within the economy - those that help make the ground fertile early-on for wide adoption by the masses that do not use the term. |

I admit that I myself don't understand the term triple-entry bookkeeping (or have ever heard it before). But I've been reading the texts of bitcoin.org in detail (while translating) and this is the only thing about bitcoin that I've found so far in these texts that I have never heard before. I really can't imagine how this can be one of the 3 sentences that are supposed to describe what bitcoin is to a complete new-comer. It's the last thing I've learned so far about bitcoin, after reading about it daily for two years. I suggest we leave this open for discussion for a while. |

Ok, cool - thanks again for sharing your perspective!! |

FWIW, I tend to agree with @gwb3 on this one. Also, we start with a more accessible answer, and only then we provide this example. I would certainly agree that "Triple-entry bookkeeping" would probably not be very well suited for the main page, but in the context of the FAQ, this seems like useful information to me. The FAQ wasn't meant to be limited to consumers only, IMO. |

Ok, thanks for being cool about my comments. I'll definitely read the triple-entry bookkeeping article with interest. |

Closing this issue for now since we didn't get to a consensus. |

While the triple-entry bookkeeping reference is very interesting, I think it's trying to explain bitcoin with an even more obscure analogy. This paragraph should help the reader relate bitcoin to something they already know. It seems to me that out of a 1000 readers there might be one newcomer to say, after reading this, "oh yeah, now I understand bitcoin better!" and at least 999 will be just more confused.
