Remove info about paying taxes
Removed info about paying taxes as it is political and non-relevant to bitcoin.

People could get into tax problems with Bitcoin if they're not aware that it can be taxed through capital gains.

I think as a warning, it's worth having, but open to discussion.

Things like not exporting cryptographic products is political too, and added so someone doesn't get themselves into legal trouble by accident.

I agree. Many people will think that taxes don't apply on Bitcoin, which is wrong. The "You need to know" page is there to help people to avoid common mistakes with Bitcoin so that they don't get in trouble.

But I wouldn't mind changing "Don't forget to pay your taxes" to something like "Taxes also apply to Bitcoin". We clearly say "It is your responsibility to inform yourself about and comply with any applicable laws." So it's up to them, we don't tell them what to do, but we do our job at informing them.

In the USA people who get paid in gold don't have to report to IRS: http://www.rapidtrends.com/robert-kahre-vs-the-irs-and-doj/ … But Bitcoin owners do?!

I think we should remove the part about taxes or at least change it to something like: "You may be required by law to pay taxes on some bitcoin transactions."

@ntom employer witholding and reporting is not at all the same as not having to pay taxes! That is precisely the kind of misconceptions that we need to take care not to feed.

I would remove the "your" references. That would remove the political nature of it, it's a fact that governments will want you to pay taxes on bitcoin gains, but arguably they are not "my" taxes, they are the government's desire of me. Also, if you're going to list the types of taxes governments will want, the one that most directly applies to bitcoin investments now is capital gains, so might as well add that to the list.

This revision seems non-political to me:

Don't forget government taxes

Bitcoin is not an official currency. That said, most political jurisdictions still require you to pay income, sales, payroll, and capital gains taxes on anything that has value, including Bitcoin.

Fine by me, @ntom you should rewrite the pull to do as @EnigmaCurry if you find that acceptable.

I'd just say "jurisdictions" instead of "political jurisdictions".

Agree with @sipa, no need for "political" as an adjective here. Otherwise, +1 for @EnigmaCurry
