MacOSx Tiled keeps crashing #899
Comments
Judging by that stack trace there is some problem in Qt related to the handling of a touch event. Could you try whether it still happens with the latest daily build? It's built against a slightly more recent version of Qt and my hope it that the issue may be fixed there. |
Well i downloaded the latest build from daily build and it crashed me 5 times when I tried to for example duplicate the object. But then I started saving (cmnd +S) after every second, every little move, change etc. and since then it didn't crashed. |
So when you save frequently it doesn't crash? That's very strange. Also, was the stack trace in the crash dialog the same as the one you reported here originally? |
Seems like it. But I don't understand how it works so Im not sure. I will post new crash report if it happen again. |
When moving to another layer:
|
Don't want to spam. now i duplicated the object.
|
Alright, they seem to be all pretty similar, ending in a crash triggered in |
I'm also experiencing this. |
By the way - for me, it seems to be happening most of the time when a file is reloaded. Actually, I haven't experienced any crashes since disabling autoreload this morning. Then, when I pressed ctrl + R, the program crashed. Hasn't been long though, so I'm not sure. |
Hmm, the auto-reload and Ctrl+R refer to two different things. The auto-reload option is about when tileset images change, while Ctrl+R reloads the map file. There is currently no option to disable the auto-reloading of map files when there are no local changes. I'll be sure to fiddle around with this on OS X a little to see if I can reproduce this, though. |
Oh, I see! Hmm. I just did some testing, and generally, about 1/3 of the time I press ctrl+R, the program crashes. But sometimes I can press it 50 times in a row with no crash. |
Here are the stack traces I got. The first one appears to be the most common. http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=TJVU0vEd Using OS X 10.10.2, and Tiled 0.11.
|
@clessg Thanks. Unfortunately, none of the stack traces gives any clue in which way Tiled may be involved in this crash. |
I tested the daily builds, and the problem seems to be introduced in the December 17 build. Builds prior to December 17 do not crash. |
December 7 build (works): v0.10.2-68-g426c32b |
FWIW, only seems to happen in Qt 5.4+ (but didn't test much). Also, commenting out this line seemingly stops the reload crashing for some reason: https://github.com/bjorn/tiled/blob/master/src/tiled/documentmanager.cpp#L304 |
Is it still happening with the Tiled 0.12 release? I'm still unable to reproduce this crash unfortunately. If you're still experiencing it, I'll upload a debug build which may give more information about the crash. |
Yeah, it's still happening for me unfortunately. |
Sorry to keep asking the same question, but does the recent Tiled 0.17 release built against Qt 5.7 still show this issue? |
@bjorn Sadly, it still does. |
One more time, @clessg and @Halfdann, is this still an issue in Tiled 1.1.5? I do not recall this bug being reported by anyone else in the past 1.5 years, so I am somewhat hopeful that it's been fixed in the meantime. |
Hello. I cannot say because I was using that as hobby and also for school. Right now 2 years employed so no fun no time for game making :-P. |
It's still happening to me unfortunately. I will try to dig deeper into this in the near future if possible. |
@Halfdann Ah, that's so sad to hear. Though indeed, the only reason I still have time for Tiled development is thanks to the generous support from my patrons. Without being able to reduce my working time I'd have to stop working on this project! @clessg That's unfortunate! Indeed any further digging would be greatly appreciated. One thing I noticed, is that both of you were probably running into different issues. All the stack traces posted by @Halfdann had something to do with |
For future reference #1267 seems related to this issue and shows a similar crash shortly after |
@clessg Could you have another go at testing Tiled 1.2.3 (Qt 5.6) and if possible, also Tiled 2019.05.08 (the latest development snapshot, built against Qt 5.12)? |
Since I never heard about this crash again recently, I think it might have been QTBUG-77770, which was fixed in Qt 5.12.7 and Qt 5.13.2. Tiled builds are based on Qt 5.15.2 currently. Closing this issue, but feel free to reopen when it's still happening. |
Hello,
I had old tiled version about 0.9 or something. Today I downloaded the latest release (not beta)
And it keeps crashing unexpectedly no matter what action I do. Sometimes it crashes when editing name of object, adding object, moving object to another layer, duplicating object..etc
this is the error code what shows mac, I don't know if its useful for you, but maybe it is so I will provide it here:
