The carousel control is only for images. We also need horizontal paging control for text and/or graphical content. The component needed is called a "scrollableView" in iOS and has dots at the bottom of the view indicating how many total views there are as well as marking the current page.

This would be similar to the home screen on BlackBerry 10 with the ability to page between "sheets/pages" of content.

Typically this is used with lists where the overflow of items happens when the content will not fit in the page/sheet. Are you looking for this to be list specific, or a more generic paging/sheet functionality?

Actually, I would like to start with a list that was similar to the current img list with img, title, subtitle, and arrow. That would give a lot of flexibility in terms of styling options. Secondly, I would like a scrollable grid - where I could place either static graphics, animations, or video thumbnails. Imagine a mini-video wall of squares maybe 3x3 like a tic-tac-toe board.

With the latter grid view - i would also want the ability to combine squares (i.e. merge 2 or all 3 adjacent neighbours in a row or column)

So would the request then be to add a new mode to both the grid/list of paging

Where you would use the grid/image list to page content instead of scroll it?

Yes, and absolutely! I realised the need for this while creating 2Scoops app. The scrollable view was more interesting and added visual variety plus greater ease of use in iOS version. Whilst assembling BB10 version, the lack of paging causes two usability issues: 1) users are unable to gauge how long page/content is (how much scrolling involved); b) user intent is blurred by vertical scroll and tap/play audio being quite similar gestures - screen also seems to delay b/c it has trouble discerning intent. If you play with this in the sample i sent i think it will become clearer. Hopefully the sample arrived?

Yes, I received the sample.. haven't had a chance to look at it yet though

Wow 👍 , is nice to know that we count with awesome woman here and great ideas and requests !!! =) I believe that our imagination never ends and amazing apps are born here , Im feeling proud ! :)

I think this request will be very productive to show more information in a single screen without the need of reload. For example, showing data, pictures, videos, a map, etc :)
