Co(lab) was Blackboard’s research preview for bringing a web browser, code editor, terminals, and Git into one place for deep work. That work became Dash: a desktop workspace for you and your AI, across all your machines.
Available in beta for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Free to start, with no account required for local use.
Dash carries forward Co(lab)’s editor, terminals, customizable browser, and built-in Git GUI, with new ways to put your whole setup to work:
- Pick up your work on another machine. Reach files, terminals, and Git on your connected computers from Dash Desktop or a web browser, including your phone.
- Bring your coding agents. Run Codex, Claude Code, or other terminal-based agents where your project lives. Open the same running session from another device.
- Run models on hardware you own. Download supported open weight models and give them access to the machines and projects you authorize.
- Connect your AI to your tools. Give compatible assistants access to files, terminals, and projects through Local MCP or hosted Relay MCP.
- Make the web fit your workflow. Save websites with custom preload scripts to remove distractions or customize their appearance, then reopen them alongside your code in Dash Desktop.
Connections between Dash clients are end-to-end encrypted, including through Dash Relay.
Co(lab) is no longer maintained. This repository preserves the research preview under its original MIT license. Dash is a separate, proprietary product built with open-source tools, including Electrobun, Cottontail, and Warren.
Thanks to everyone who tried Co(lab), shared feedback, starred the project, or built on it. You helped shape what came next.
