First of all, the whole session expiry thing is annoying as heck. The site shows me as signed in, but when I go to post a comment I get a popup telling me that my session is expired, so I should sign out and back in.

But then when I do sign out and back in, I write my comment, preview it, and then go to submit it. When I submit from the preview screen I get an error (not a popup) that my session has expired. So then I go back to the post and just submit the comment, and it works.

Maybe this could all be fixed by just deleting expired sessions in the browser when the server sees them.

I also have had a similar problem, seen on blogs.perl.org where I have been unable to leave a comment today.

I logged in using my Google account, and then about 15 seconds later tried to submit a comment (after previewing it), and then I get this error:

"Comment Submission Error

Your comment submission failed for the following reasons: Your session has expired. Please sign in again to comment."

This happened twice, in 2 different web browsers (Safari and Chrome, both on Mac OS X 10.6.8).

As an addendum, the prior problems happened when I used Preview before posting; if I skip that and just choose Submit directly without a preview, then my comment posts without trouble.

This is a duplicate of #196. I posted a workaround (unfortunately we have no solution yet) in the comment thread there – basically your session doesn’t really expire, MT just can’t find it while in preview mode. So if you click Back to the original post after preview, you can submit or edit-and-preview your comment from there.

It happens for me every time I am trying to post something (after inactivity period), without trying to preview, so not related to previews.

Hm, yeah, that is different. Would you mind creating a separate issue for that, @vsespb?
