A Logitech M240 bluetooth mouse turns unusable with the transition from 5.79 to 5.80 #1138

This is on an Arch Linux system which is patched every couple of days. Today, with the upgrade of the Arch Linux packages bluez, bluez-libs and bluez-utils from v5.79 to v5.80, my Logitech M240 mouse is no longer recognised with 5.80. Patching back to 5.79 is a usable work-around.

I am carefully watching my System Journal. With v5.79 I obtain a log like:

Mar 18 15:31:54 T470p systemd[748]: Reached target Bluetooth.
Mar 18 15:31:55 T470p kernel: input: LOGI M240 Mouse as /devices/virtual/misc/uhid/0005:046D:B03A.0001/input/input18
Mar 18 15:31:55 T470p kernel: hid-generic 0005:046D:B03A.0001: input,hidraw0: BLUETOOTH HID v0.09 Mouse [LOGI M240] on f8:59:71:8d:e0:81

when moving the mouse around a little after startup of X, while with v5.80 there is no such output at all.

Feel free to let me know what kind of logging can be useful to troubleshoot this.

This is not an immediate problem for me, as I can flawlessly revert to v5.79. However, I felt it would be useful to report immediately.

Patching back means here to downgrade the abovementioned Arch Linux packages and to subsequently reboot the machine.

If you prefer, I can turn to the Arch guys first, in case this is a configuration problem.

Best,
Friedrich
